History Of Talkeetna Air Taxi

The history of Talkeetna Air Taxi reaches back to the early flying days of Alaska. TAT helped pioneer McKinley flights and glacier landings in the Alaska Range. Fifty years later TAT has broadened the meaning of expedition support for climbers to include: logistical support, up-to-date route information and photos, unique base camp locations, mid-climb route checks, remote and unclimbed peak information.

Several other aviators well known in the industry and throughout Alaska have owned Talkeetna Air Taxi including Lowell Thomas Jr., former lieutenant governor of Alaska and son of the famous radio broadcaster. TAT holds a special concession for glacier landing operations in Denali National Park. Paul Roderick, director of operations for TAT, is a climber as well with ascents on Denali and many other peaks in the region.
